“As a young child, I was fortunate to be taught by my mother, grandmother, and great aunts who worked with their hands creating textiles and their voices as storytellers. I learned many things from the wisdom of their hearts and hands.
My work has always been inspired by nature. My favorite fairy tale, THUMBELINA, was often a starting point in my approach to creating works as an advocate for my love of our Earth. I search to recreate dreams and multi-layered near-the-ground images from my play in the woods behind my childhood home. I use natural dyes, eco-immersion dyeing, and contact printing along with the use of fine non-toxic French silks paints and dyes to complement the eco-dyed works. My work is always evolving.”
